GLOBAL WARMING...

The most serious issue facing humans since civilization began? Over-hyped by alarmists? Certainly one of the most important, and arguably least understood, issues of our time. The purpose of this event is to inform people with more than sound bytes so that they can make responsible decisions.

Climate Change

How do we know it's happening?
What are greenhouse gasses?
How do they cause global warming?
How is human activity involved?
What are the likely consequences?
How sure are we?
What can we do about it?

Dr. Andre Droxler, Professor, Department of Earth Studies at Rice University, presents a Friday night lecture:

When? 7:30-9:30 pm. Friday, May 16, 2008
Where? St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 5501 So. Main Second Floor, in the Gym
Cost? Free - $5.00 Donations accepted to cover expenses

Dr. Droxler is Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences and Director of the Center for Studies of Environment and Society at Rice University and a recognized expert on climate change. He is a researcher on marine deposits and their record of past climate fluctuations. Dr. Droxler is also senior editor of a monograph on the relationship of earth's climate and its orbital eccentricity. His talk will focus on past climate changes and will especially emphasize the current high levels of carbon dioxide and methane. These greenhouse gasses are at levels unobserved in the last 800,000 years and most likely in the last 30 million years!
